The Villa Park
Wetland System was first modified in 1985 to protect Lake McCarrons
in Roseville. The wetland includes shallow pools of water arranged
in a “step-down” manner along with wetland plants. They were
designed to capture sediments and phosphorus-laden particles in
stormwater runoff that drains over 700 acres of land before it
reaches the lake. Over time, large stormwater flows and erosion
have reduced the effectiveness of the wetland. This has resulted in
excessive sedimentation deposits and nuisance aquatic plant growth
in the lake. |
