Join Saint Paul musician and composer Dameun Strange for an afternoon of sonic exploration. Together we will learn about the physics of sound waves\, hear field recordings\, and explore the sounds of our watershed on an outdoor sound walk. Participants will then learn to make field recordings using simple tools such as a smartphone. Come prepared to tune in\, slow down\, and reflect on the sound of water in your memories and your environment. Read an interview with Dameun Strange about his work\, AquaSonos: An Interview with Dameun Strange. \nWorkshop activities will take place indoors and outdoors at Capitol Region Watershed District. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Please bring a charged smartphone. No other equipment or previous knowledge is required! It strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with water\, exposes visitors to new perspectives\, and increases participation in water stewardship activities. \nWe invite you to visit the exhibit\, hosted by Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD) from April 23 to June 14\, 2026\, at our Watershed Learning Center. The exhibit will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Mondays\, Wednesdays\, Thursdays\, and Fridays\, and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. Please note that CRWD will be closed on Memorial Day (Monday\, May 25\, 2026). \nThe exhibit includes over 20 unique pieces. Your inspection information will be shared with the rain garden grantees to help them care for their gardens. Join CRWD staff to review the basics of rain garden design and learn our scoring and mobile inspection process. \nInspections are entered through a mobile app. Volunteers are expected to download the app on their mobile device and log in before this event. This information will be shared with all who register here. \nAt the training\, staff will give a short presentation on rain gardens and the basics of using the app and scoring. Everyone will have a chance to open the app and do a test inspection. Staff will have project area packets for clusters of rain gardens. Volunteers will create teams\, including a Water Steward and a Garden Education Volunteer. Your team will select a project area to inspect and share contact information to coordinate when you’d like to conduct your inspections together. The deadline to complete inspections is Sunday\, June 21.  \nCRWD staff will review the results and mail inspection postcards to the homeowners. All gardens are accessible/visible by sidewalk or street.
