SUMMARY:2026 Boulevard Rain Garden Inspection Training
DESCRIPTION:There are over 300 boulevard rain gardens in Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD)\, and we’d love your help inspecting them. Your inspection information will be shared with the rain garden grantees to help them care for their gardens. Join CRWD staff to review the basics of rain garden design and learn our scoring and mobile inspection process. \nInspections are entered through a mobile app. Volunteers are expected to download the app on their mobile device and log in before this event. This information will be shared with all who register here. \nAt the training\, staff will give a short presentation on rain gardens and the basics of using the app and scoring. Everyone will have a chance to open the app and do a test inspection. Staff will have project area packets for clusters of rain gardens. Volunteers will create teams\, including a Water Steward and a Garden Education Volunteer. Your team will select a project area to inspect and share contact information to coordinate when you’d like to conduct your inspections together. The deadline to complete inspections is Sunday\, June 21.  \nCRWD staff will review the results and mail inspection postcards to the homeowners. All gardens are accessible/visible by sidewalk or street. Homeowners will have been notified that inspections are happening via a postcard. \nPlease register below. \nIf you have any questions\, contact Matt at MLundberg@capitolregionwd.org or Lucas at LRoessler-Caram@capitolregionwd.org\, or by calling (651) 644-8888. If you are unable to attend the training but would still like to participate in inspections\, please contact Matt before May 21\, 2026. \n\n \n \n 2026 Boulevard Rain Garden Inspection Training Registration\n Thursday\, May 21\, 2026 \n \n InstagramThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Phone(Required)We will only use for communication about the event. SUMMARY:Art + Water Workshop: Aquasonos – Community Listening with Dameun Strange
DESCRIPTION:Listening is a daily act that is both solo and collaborative: a conversation between family members over breakfast\, taking in a lesson at school\, a podcast that plays in your ears as you wait for the bus. \nWhat happens when we listen\, intentionally\, together? \nAt this evening event\, you are invited to listen together to the sounds of our watershed\, from the ancient history of Como Lake to the birds of Frogtown Farm.  Sound scores by musician and composer Dameun Strange will be installed as listening environments in CRWD’s building and outdoor gardens. Tune in to three immersive works\, including a new piece composed of field recordings gathered at the previous Aquasonos workshop on April 25. Read an interview with Dameun Strange about his work\, AquaSonos: An Interview with Dameun Strange. \nRegistration (see below) is appreciated but not required. Light refreshments will be served. \nNote: CRWD’s Mississippi River Room is equipped with an audio induction loop system\, Midwest Hearing Loop. This listening technology connects directly to an individual’s hearing aid via a wireless connection. Please follow the directions posted on the wall to make use of this service. \nThis event is part of the We Are Water MN exhibit at Capitol Region Watershed District’s Watershed Learning Center from April 23 to June 14\, 2026. Art + Water Workshops are organized by CRWD Artist-in-Residence Sarah Peters and CRWD Community Engagement Coordinator Maricella Xiong. \nEveryone is welcome at CRWD. We are committed to creating a safe environment for all visitors. If there are any safety updates\, we will post them here and notify all registered participants. Questions? Please contact us; we’re happy to help! \nAbove image: As Above So Below (2025)\, graphic score by Dameun Strange. \nAbout the artist: \nDameun Strange is an acclaimed sound artist\, multi-instrumentalist\, and award-winning composer. His body of work encompasses conceptual electronic and improvised electro-acoustic compositions that delve into the narratives and themes of the African diaspora\, frequently incorporating surrealist and Afrofuturist aesthetics. Through sound and poetry\, Strange’s artistic aim is to articulate the beauty and resilience of the Black experience\, drawing upon ancestral influences to convey stories of triumph and forge connections across the past\, present\, and future. \nStrange has composed for notable artists and choreographers including Leslie Parker\, Ananya Chatterjea\, Joanna Lees\, and Pramila Vasudevan. His significant accolades include the 2018 ACF | Create Award and a 2019 Jerome Hill Fellowship. Most recently\, he was named the inaugural composer-in-residence for the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) for their 2025-26 60th anniversary season. \n\n \n \n Art + Water Workshop: June 6\, 2026\n \n \n LinkedInThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)This will only be used for communication about the event. \n \n \n Enter Email\n \n \n \n Confirm Email\n \n \n Will this be your first time visiting Capitol Region Watershed’s building?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n \n \n \n Don't know\n Newsletter Subscription(Required)You can agree to have your email address added to CRWD's general newsletter subscription.
